Japanese Class

When you were in school, did you learn a foreign language? We are! Throughout the school, students are learning Japanese. Our sensei is Ms. Akama. I LOVE Japanese--I think it’s fun!

My class has our Japanese lessons on Tuesdays. When we start, everyone stands up and says, "Akama Sensei Ohaiyo Gozaimasu" (Good Morning, Ms. Akama). During Japanese we learn how to read and write Hiragana (Japanese characters only for Japanese words). We also learn phrases, words, and sentences. Sometimes, Ms. Akama picks random people to stand up and she quizzes them.

Once in a while we would do Origami (Japanese paper folding). Sometimes the origami can be a little challenging, but there is always a good classmate to help you. This shows the IB Learner Profile, CARING. Time flies so fast when you're having fun!

Students need to be Risk-Takers. Why? A Risk-Taker is a person who tries new things and takes risks. This applies to Japanese class because some brave students raise their hands even if he or she might be wrong. Also, most students in our class might have not learned Japanese before. So this is a new/different subject to them. Now you know what happens during Japanese class.
