What color is your school uniform?

What color is your school uniform?

Our school’s uniform is RED. Now this wasn't just a random chosen color; it actually means something.

Our school is named Keone'ula because of what it was built on. Before our school was built, there was a very vast area of red sand or dirt. In Hawaiian, Keone'ula means red sand so that is why they made our school uniform red.

Other schools also have reasons why they chose a certain color for their shirt but ours just happens to be based on a substance our school was built on.

Our uniform also consists of our school name and mascot; THE SABER CUB. This was chosen by the students The mascot also shows how we were little cubs, to becoming a TIGER in the end at Campbell High school!! This really helps us be more REFLECTIVE and intelligent too.

Now, let’s get into why schools have uniforms. Uniforms isn't just for fashion; it is for safety and for school spirit. Uniforms indicate whether or not a student goes to our school.  Without these uniforms, random and dangerous people can roam around our campus without us knowing it.

Wearing this uniform also shows school spirit because we are telling people that we are proud that we are Keone'ula Cubs and that we are learning more and more! We always keep an OPEN MIND for new things to learn. That is what a cub of Keone'ula does!

I hope that you all became a little educated about the "history" of our school and I hope that you can share what your uniform looks like! See ya later!

Cultural Artifacts

Cultural Artifacts

In Mrs. A. Matsuura`s class, we had a project about our cultures. We had to find a cultural artifact.

My artifact was the Filipino money; called Pesos. We took notes about other students’ cultures and it was interesting to learn about everything!

Some people brought food, money, and many more great cultural artifacts.

The sixth graders in Mrs. Matsuura`s class were being KNOWLEDGEABLE because we learned about each other’s cultures and took good notes.

What is your culture? Comment below and let me know!

VROOM VROOM! Time to go on our field trip!

Have you ever been on a field trip? My classmates and I have! We went to the Honolulu Museum of Arts in town.

If you like art you should really go--you'll enjoy the drawings, paintings, and sculptures.

I also love to have home lunch! We went to eat lunch across the street of the museum. What I had for lunch was an egg sandwich, water, and candy! It was very delicious!

The next field trip we are going to is the Polynesian Cultural Center. We are going to sleep over! I will tell you about it when we come back! Bye!

Everybody knows about the book of the month at our school!

Everybody knows about the book of the month at our school!

The book of the month is a book our principal, Mrs. Hirota picks out for us for each month.

Each class gets the book then their teachers read their book to the students.  The students do an activity that usually has to do with the theme of the story.

They could do a response to literature. They can also do a game, art piece, or maybe even a book review! Either way, they are all fun and interesting! Each book showcases an IB learner profile or attitude.

This BLOG relates to the IB learner profile, communicator. Why? It’s because students have to share their thoughts, opinions, and ideas.

The book of the month for October is called Uncommon Traveler. It is about a woman who finds a place to live with vicious animals. She lived in a place where she didn’t fit in when she was little. She finds out that the swamp with animals is her home because she finally feels like she’s home.

Hello everybody! My name is Joshua and yes, you may have heard me from other blogs I have written!

How to Write a Blog Step by Step

How to Write a Blog Step by Step

Writing a blog is easy! You can write a BLOG in  3 easy steps.

When you understand how to write one by yourself, then you can teach OTHER people how to create one. So here are the 3 steps:

Step# 1: Think about a topic. You will notice throughout these steps; they are just like writing a story. This step is the most important step in making a blog because if you don't have an idea, then you will be on your chair, sitting there with nothing to type out. So that is when you need to be a THINKER to think about a topic for a blog.

Step# 2: Write a draft so you know what you are going to write about. I recommend it because when you show it to your teacher he/she can be able to correct your spelling, grammar, phonics, and etc. The teacher is also an important part of your blog because they are like a correction machine so your blog sounds correct.

The last step is to type and go around campus to take pictures. It's not that hard right? All you are doing is typing out the draft you made earlier.

Sometimes blogs aren't easy to make. Ideas don't come around too much because it is hard to find one. But with these easy steps, you will have an easy and FUN time!

What makes you happy?

What makes you happy?

I'll tell you three things that make me happy!

The first thing that makes me happy is church! Church makes me happy because I get spiritual and religious.

The second thing that makes me happy is my family! They make me happy because they care about me! This relates to the IB Learner Profile, Caring! I always know that they love me because they cook for me, they buy me things, they provide shelter and food, and spend time with me! I still love them even though they correct me. My family is awesome!

The last thing that makes me happy is ONE DIRECTION! They make me happy because when I am mad at someone I just hum or sing their songs! One of my favorite song is, "The Time of my Life." But my most favorite song is, "One Way or Another." I thought that was a very funny music video because it is so random and their dance moves were very funny!

My sisters get very irritated because I always talk to my mom about them and they mock me saying, "One Direction this! One Direction that!" But all I do is laugh!

These are the three things that make me happy or excited! Thank you for reading! Bye!

My name is Kiilehua! My favorite color is green! I love my family! I have a favorite boy band named One Direction! My favorite food is Korean food!
